Obagi Blue Peel Radiance®

Improve your overall complexion with Obagi Blue Peel Radiance, a quick, superficial salicylic acid-based facial peel. At our Rocky Mount, NC, practice, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Frederick K. Park and his aesthetic specialists recommend this chemical peel for patients who want smoother, brighter-looking skin without the downtime associated with more aggressive peels.

What Is Blue Peel Radiance?

Blue Peel Radiance uses a blend of acids for a gentle but effective peel that refines and smooths skin after a single treatment. The treatment exfoliates the skin and deep cleans the pores. The Radiance peel is different from the Obagi Blue Peel®, which penetrates deeper into the skin and includes a low trichloroacetic acid (TCA) level. You can also ask about our Obagi Nu-Derm® system.

What Are the Benefits of Blue Peel Radiance?

Salicylic acid-based peels such as the Blue Peel Radiance address a range of skin conditions, including acne scarring, sun damage, and melasma, by exfoliating the damaged upper layers of skin. Some of the benefits enjoyed by patients who get Blue Peel Radiance treatments include:

  • Little to no downtime
  • Improved skin texture
  • Reduced skin discoloration
  • Enhanced radiance
  • Renewed overall complexion

Even though you’ll see results after one peel, we recommend scheduling a series of 4 to 6 peels to see the best results. You should wait for your skin to completely heal before getting subsequent peels.

What Happens During a Blue Peel Radiance Procedure?

Before beginning a complete treatment, we apply a test application of the peel solution on a small area. The 3-step treatment starts after the provider applies a small amount of petroleum jelly or a moisturizer to the lips and corners of the eyes to protect these sensitive areas.

Step 1

Your provider applies the Blue Peel Radiance prep solution to your clean, dry skin, and the skin is left to dry completely.

Step 2

The provider applies the first layer of Blue Peel Radiance in a systematic pattern to achieve even results. It’s normal to experience mild tingling throughout the application. We apply only one layer of the peel solution for a very light peel. We may apply a second layer after 30 to 60 seconds to promote additional peeling.

The peel remains on the skin for 10 to 12 minutes after applying the first layer. The provider removes the peel by applying Obagi Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser with a sponge or gauze and then rinsing with water.

Step 3

The treatment concludes with applying a non-chemical sunscreen, such as Obagi Rosaclear® Skin Balancing Sun Protection SPF 30.
