Liposuction is a versatile body contouring solution whether you want to sculpt specific trouble spots or enhance your overall figure. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Frederick K. Park uses time-tested liposuction techniques at his Rocky Mount, NC, practice, as well as ultrasound-assisted technology to remove denser fat. Women and men visit him from Greenville, Raleigh, Wilson, Murfreesboro, Goldsboro, and surrounding areas to feel more confident in swimsuits and fitted clothing.
What Is Liposuction?
Liposuction uses straw-like tubes, called cannulas, to break up and suction away fat from beneath the skin. Liposuction slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits and improving your body contours and proportion. It is a wonderful technique for reshaping certain body parts.

Liposuction effectively reduces fat in stubborn areas where it naturally accumulates. “Spot treating” these areas with diet and exercise is difficult, and the persistent bulges can be frustrating. Liposuction body sculpting effectively shrinks troublesome pockets of fat in areas such as the following:
Thighs
Hips and buttocks
Abdomen and waist
Upper arms
Back
Inner knee
Chest area
Cheeks, chin, and neck
Liposuction reveals muscle tone and produces long-lasting results if you maintain an active lifestyle that includes regular exercise and a healthy diet. Liposuction is not weight-loss surgery, and it is also not an effective treatment for cellulite, the dimpled skin that typically appears on the thighs, hips, and buttocks.

How Much Does Liposuction Cost in Rocky Mount, NC?
The cost of liposuction in Rocky Mount, Greenville, Raleigh, and throughout North Carolina can vary significantly. The price depends on the procedure’s complexity, the number of areas treated, and your surgeon’s level of expertise. We will provide you with a specific price quote after you have discussed your procedure with Dr. Park. You can also contact us for a general liposuction price range.
Dr. Park’s Approach:
The ideal liposuction candidate is at or near their ideal weight. However, that’s not always the case. For patients who are not at a stable weight, it is essential to define the goals clearly. Liposuction is NOT a substitute for weight loss. It is a reshaping procedure that works best in a limited area. But I do use it to reduce size in certain larger regions. Common areas for this might be the abdomen or thighs. A patient with a thick abdomen, who desires a slightly thinner appearance, may feel that their goals are achieved by a total abdominal liposuction procedure, even if the result is not a thin, contoured look.
How Is Liposuction Performed?
In most cases, Dr. Park performs tumescent liposuction manually. He makes small incisions and saturates the treatment area with a solution that includes a local anesthetic and epinephrine, which causes fatty tissue to swell and become firm. Dr. Park then inserts small, straw-like tubes called cannulas and uses them to break up and suction fat just below the skin.
Dr. Park uses ultrasound-assisted liposuction for areas of the body with very dense, fibrous fat, which traditional liposuction can’t effectively treat.
Who Is a Candidate for Liposuction?
The ideal liposuction patient is at or near their ideal weight with good skin tone and has few areas which are disproportionately large despite weight loss. These patients can have outstanding results with limited liposuction. Liposuction can be performed alone or with other plastic surgery procedures, such as a facelift, breast reduction, or tummy tuck.
Financing Options
It’s easy for qualified patients to finance their procedures through CareCredit®, which offers attractive payment plans for women and men choosing elective cosmetic surgery or nonsurgical treatments.
Liposuction is typically an outpatient procedure, which means you can go home the same day as the surgery. You will need someone to drive you home. You can expect discomfort and soreness, which you can manage with prescription pain medication for the first few days.
Wearing a compression garment is essential to recovery because it helps reduce swelling. You should limit your activities but take short, gentle walks beginning the day of the procedure to improve circulation. Depending on the extent of your procedure, you may be able to return to work within 3 to 7 days of the surgery. You can resume exercise after 4 to 6 weeks.
