JUVÉDERM®

Whether you desire smoother skin, diminished wrinkles and lines, or fuller lips or cheeks, the JUVÉDERM family of injectable dermal fillers can create the results you’re looking for. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Frederick K. Park personally injects JUVÉDERM fillers at his Rocky Mount, NC, practice, tailoring treatments to meet your needs.

What Is JUVÉDERM?

JUVÉDERM falls into the category of dermal fillers, which we use can to restore lost volume, contour the face, and eliminate the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines around the mouth. The active ingredient in JUVÉDERM fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the body that attracts water. This feature helps your skin stay hydrated and firm. The gel in JUVÉDERM fillers has a smoother consistency compared to some hyaluronic gel products with a more granular texture.

What Are the Benefits of JUVÉDERM Treatments?

The variety of JUVÉDERM fillers makes it a versatile option that can address several concerns about your appearance. Often thought of only as an anti-aging treatment, JUVÉDERM lip fillers and other products can reshape facial features if you want to enhance their contours. Besides cosmetic improvements, JUVÉDERM has many other benefits. JUVÉDERM fillers:

  • Are nonsurgical procedures
  • Deliver immediate results
  • Have excellent safety records
  • Produce natural-looking results
  • Last from 9 to 24 months
  • Don’t require downtime

All JUVÉDERM fillers are pre-mixed with a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort during the injections, which take only a few minutes to administer. Most appointments take about 30 minutes from when you arrive at our practice. JUVÉDERM develops fillers using a technology that creates a smoother gel compared to the granular consistency of other hyaluronic acid fillers. This means JUVÉDERM fillers move more naturally when you smile and talk compared to other products.

Dr. Park’s Approach:

Fillers are wonderful adjuncts to the surgical procedures I perform. We’re continually seeing new, more specialized fillers brought to the market, although some don’t appear to live up to their hype. Most do, and they are safe and effective ways to improve the appearance of different areas of the face.

I most often use JUVÉDERM fillers, but I also offer RADIESSE®. RADIESSE is made of calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres and stimulates collagen production in addition to adding volume. We determine the best filler for each patient, depending on the treatment area or areas. In some cases, we use a filler that’s injected just below the skin’s surface. Other circumstances call for a filler that’s injected deeper. Longevity is always a concern.

For people with nasolabial folds, marionette lines, lip creases, cheek lines, hollowed hands, and other areas which could use volume, a filler is a great option to improve the areas without surgery.

How Much Does JUVÉDERM Cost in Rocky Mount, NC?

The cost of JUVÉDERM, including lip fillers, in Greenville, Rocky Mount, and surrounding areas depends on the formulation and the amount injected. When you visit us for a consultation, Dr. Park will discuss how much product you’ll need to achieve your desired result.

BOTOX® Cosmetic vs. Dermal Fillers

BOTOX and dermal fillers are both popular nonsurgical cosmetic treatments used to address different signs of aging and enhance the appearance of the face. Here’s a comparison of the two treatments:

How They Work

BOTOX is a neurotoxin that temporarily paralyzes the muscles responsible for causing dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles that appear when you make facial expressions). It blocks the nerve signals to the targeted muscles, leading to a reduction in wrinkles and lines. Dermal fillers are gel-like substances primarily composed of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the body. They add volume and shape to areas of the face that have lost volume due to aging or could otherwise benefit from contouring.

What They Treat

BOTOX is commonly used to treat frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines, crow’s feet around the eyes, and other dynamic wrinkles on the face. Dermal fillers are used to smooth out static wrinkles (wrinkles that are present even when the face is at rest) and to add volume in areas like the cheeks, lips, under-eye area, and nasolabial folds (smile lines).

Results

The effects of BOTOX typically become noticeable within a few days to a week after the injections and can last for about 3 months. Regular treatments are necessary to maintain the results. The results of dermal fillers are immediate, and they can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the type of filler used and the individual’s metabolism.

We often combine JUVÉDERM with BOTOX or XEOMIN® injections as part of a “liquid facelift.”

What Happens During a JUVÉDERM Treatment?

Even though JUVÉDERM fillers include a local anesthetic, some patients request that we apply a topical numbing cream to the injection site or sites before the treatment. Once the area is numb, the injections take only a few minutes. Most appointments take less than 30 minutes. Common side effects include some redness and swelling at the injection site. You won’t need downtime, but you should avoid rubbing the treatment area so the filler doesn’t move where it’s unwanted. If you get lip fillers, you should wait at least 24 hours after getting lip fillers to kiss.
