Ear Surgery – Otoplasty
Dr. Park’s Approach:
“I really enjoy doing plastic surgery in general and Otoplasty is one of my favorite procedures. Although mostly performed on children, I have performed the surgery on many adults who have always wanted to be corrected and just have never gotten around to it. One of my patients was in her late 60s and felt very self-conscious about the way she looked to people behind her in church. Even at her age, she was thrilled with her new-found confidence. Otoplasty is a very rewarding experience and many patients indicate that it provides them with tremendous peace of mind regarding how they feel others view them.”
What is Otoplasty?
Ear surgery, also known as Otoplasty, can improve the shape, position or proportion of the ear. Otoplasty can correct a defect in the ear structure that is present at birth which becomes apparent with development. It can also treat misshapen ears caused by injury.
Ear Surgery creates a natural shape, while bringing balance and proportion to the ears and face. Correction of even minor deformities can have profound benefits to appearance and self-esteem.
If protruding or disfigured ears bother you or your child, you may consider plastic surgery.
Specifically Ear Surgery can treat:
- Overly large ears — a rare condition called Macrotia
- Protruding ears occurring on one or both sides in varying degrees — not associated with hearing loss
- Adult dissatisfaction with previous Ear Surgery
